The popular modern classic I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change comes to St. Dunstan’s Theatre Guild of Cranbrook
Every man and woman can relate to this musical comedy about relationships.
Bloomfield Hills, Mich., September 1, 2010 – A talented troupe of performers shines a spotlight on the humor, heart and (sometimes) heartbreak of relationships as St. Dunstan’s Theatre Guild of Cranbrook presents the musical comedy I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change from Oct. 15-30.
With a book by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change has developed a devoted following. This fun, fast-paced musical comedy shares the secret thoughts about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws that everyone is afraid to admit. The road to becoming a couple, and its trials and tribulations, are front and center in this celebration of the modern-day dating game.
“It’s a musical comedy with the emphasis on comedy,” says Director Jeff Davison (Bingham Farms). “It’s a sketch comedy set to music, along the lines of The Carol Burnett Show or, in some cases, Saturday Night Live.”
Six performers play the many roles in this show’s series of vignettes about dating, marriage, parents, children, growing up and growing old — with the emphasis on dating at all ages. In particular, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change finds the funny in the awkwardness, absurdity and affection that’s part of every partnership.
“It’s a show everyone can relate to if they’ve ever been in a relationship,” says Music Director Anthony Marsalese (Bingham Farms). “Men and women see things very differently, and there’s a lot of humor in that.”
Instead of setting I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change in a big city, St. Dunstan’s is using metro Detroit as a backdrop, with video projections to help establish the locales.
