This light musical drama based in Dublin, Ireland, tells the story of an amateur theatre group and their leader, Alfie Byrne, a Dublin bus conductor.  For years Alfie has led the eager St. Imelda players in a variety of theatrical endeavors.  When his determination to stage a version of Salome is met with opposition from church authorities, Alfie comes out of his books to take a stand in the world after learning some valuable lessons about love and friends.
