What is the Greek Theatre and where is it?

Cranbrook's Greek amphitheater was built in 1916 and is located behind St. Dunstan’s Playhouse. The Playhouse is at 400 Lone Pine Rd, Bloomfield Hills. Look for Entrance signs on Lone Pine Rd.

Question 1

What time does the show start?

All performances start at 8:00 pm. There are no matinees. The ticket table upstairs in the Playhouse opens at 6 pm. Seating begins at 7 pm

Question 2

Are there reserved seats?

No.  General admission.  Seating begins at 7 pm. The amphitheater holds 350 people, and the view of the stage is good from all seats.

Question 3

Do we bring lawn chairs?

No. Wooden stadium seats with low backs are provided at no charge and placed on the semi-circular stone tiers in the amphitheater. Personal stadium seats are permitted. Seat cushions are also available.

What if it rains?

  • Every effort is made to perform the show as scheduled. If rain forces cancellation of the show BEFORE IT STARTS, it will be announced on the website (StDunstansTheatre.com) and the Facebook page. Patrons will be informed how to use their tickets for a remaining performance.

  •  If inclement weather forces cancellation during the show’s first act, all patrons present with be given a rain check good for the remaining performances.

  • If inclement weather forces cancellation during or after intermission, the performance will be ended without rainchecks.

  • No refunds aside from exceptional circumstances as determined by St. Dunstan’s Theatre Guild. Donation receipts can be issued for unused tickets.  Email: Tickets@StDunstansTheatre.com.

I have purchased tickets. Can they be exchanged for a different date?

Yes, if seating is available. Email Tickets@StDunstansTheatre.com. Or call 1-844-DUNSTAN (1-844-386-7826) and leave a voicemail message under Option 4. No charge for exchanges.

Where do we park?

Park free on the boulevard across from the Playhouse and in the Cranbrook House and Christ Church parking lots on Lone Pine Road east of the theatre. Look for Theatre Parking signs. Please allow ample time for walking!

Are concessions available?

Yes. Water, pop, and snacks are available inside the Playhouse for a donation.

Question 8

May I bring my own beverages or snacks?

Yes, in small quantities. ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS OR LARGE COOLERS out of concern for the safety and comfort of patrons, cast, and crew.  There are no picnic facilities.

 Is the Greek theater handicapped accessible?

Unfortunately, it is not. It is very challenging for those with mobility issues.

Anything else I should know?

Restrooms are located downstairs in the Playhouse, and portable toilets are available outside. Dress for the weather. The grounds are sprayed for mosquitos, but personal insect repellant is helpful.
